About azip:
EXPERIMENTAL compression/decompression utilities, similar to gzip/gunzip, but better.
WARNING: THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL COMPRESSION CODEC -- DO NOT USE IT TO STORE ANY IMPORTANT DATA!
This archive contains a quick BeOS port of the new azip/aunzip compression
utilities. They work very similarly to gzip/gunzip, except that they use the
new APR1 compression algorithm, which has some interesting advantages over other
algorithms:
- Highly optimized compress/decompress routines for speed
- 60% to 70% data compression for all data types
- Can be applied recursively if desired, for arbitrarily small archive files
