Tom, maybe the driver has made your S3 Trio defective. It's an older card, so it may be highly possible...

It corrupts the display :(

Installed the driver on my new BeOS setup, worked wonderfully the first time. But on subsequent reboots it seems to completely corrupt the video display!

I see the Be desktop, then about 3/4 of the way across are some vertical blue lines and the display starts again there from the left!
If I reboot from BeOS or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, the text-based screens for my BIOS and for MS-DOS are all corrupt too!

I've got a digital camera pic of the problem, but don't know how to put it on here. Any way of fixing this problem?

download the file.
http://www.bebits.com/bob/12658/s3triov.zip

It should unzip automatically.

Then, click on the "setup" file. If that doesn't do it, open terminal, then drag the setup file into the terminal then click enter. That should do it.

Please help

Would it be possible to get the source ?
I'd really like to get it support the integrated s3 on this IBM... so I can test BeVnc with net_server (I've bone on my main box), because BeVnc needs BDirectWindow, and the old app_server addon can't provide this.
The kernel driver publishes the card in /dev, but the addon doesn't load:

$ ./harness
Choose from these devices found in /dev/graphics:
1) 5333_8811_000800
2) stub
Enter [1-2]: 1
B_GET_ACCELERANT_SIGNATURE returned ->trio64v2p.accelerant<-
Trying to load accelerant: /boot/beos/system/add-ons/accelerants/trio64v2p.accelerant
Accelerant loaded!
Entry point get_accelerant_hook() found
init_accelerant is 0xea1b2688
init_accelerant refuses the the driver: -1
Add-on image id: -1

stability of this driver

What did you expect? This driver is based on R3 code, and it was never stable anyway... Better buy a supported card, because most of the Virge's and Trios do not even support VESA 2.0. :P

My BeOS goes down with it...
